Movie Night with "Pinocchio"
For December, The PhD Academy Movie Committee will be screening “Pinocchio”, A retelling of the famous Italian Carlo Collodi fairytale about a wooden puppet who comes to life and dreams of becoming a real boy takes place in 1930s Fascist Italy.
Directed by the Academy Award winning Guillermo del Toro, the movie is a stop-motion fantasy musical animation. After being announced in 2008, the movie is finally hitting the screens after a prolonged wait, just after the release of the live-action ‘Pinocchio’ earlier this year. Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 15, 2022. The film was acclaimed by critics, who praised Del Toro and Gustafson’s direction, Desplat’s score, the animation, and voice acting.
