Inspiring leaders: Golnar Motaharipour

For the first time, the Ph.D. academy organizes a series of online events so-called ‘’inspiring leaders’’. 

Our invited speaks are leaders from academia and industry who have motivated their team to achieve and surpass their goals. In these webinars, the speaker shares not only their personal success pathway but also try to reveal some of the essential traits, mindsets, and strategies managers and leaders use to inspire greatness at their growing teams and companies. The first invited speaker is Golnar Motaharipour who has led several global corporations. Furthermore, she is a freelance lecturer on leadership & professional development with Maastricht University - School of Business and Economics- and a career coach.

Golnar biography:

   

Golnar was born in Iran. A German national, educated in Belgium, she holds a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy and Literature & has performed Postgraduate studies in Ecology from Applied Sciences Faculty, both at the Free University of Brussels.

She has an in-depth understanding of material sciences and extensive business experience in the chemical and plastic industries. After her studies, she worked for the European Institutions in Brussels as a trainee. She started her professional career as a productivity consultant followed by a business consultancy to the chemical industries. She then holds for 5 years various commercial roles with the Performance Plastics Division of Rohm & Haas. She spent 14 years with General Electric ( GE ) in various senior management positions and had P&L responsibilities such as  CEO of Engineering Plastics in NL, CEO of JV GE-Bayer in Germany, and CEO of Consumer Products in Hungary. She joined the European division of Emerald Kalama Chemical and was responsible for the EMEA Plasticizer Business for 4 years. She was appointed in 2015 as the CEO of DSM Dyneema division where she led the global business with sites in NL, USA, China, and Singapore.

Golnar is a true European citizen. She worked & lived in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, Hungary, and France. She speaks fluently French, German, English, and Farsi.

As of 2019, Golnar is a freelance lecturer on leadership & professional development with Maastricht University - School of Business and Economics- and a career coach.
